Ok, bravehearts. I know we all absolutely pick warrior for today, right? No one wakes up and says--"Today I am going to wimp out on the opportunities God gifts me. Today when I face the giants, I'm going to retreat." NO! We wouldn't consciously say such wimpy things! But without intention and focusing our energies on the best life God calls us to live out, we can sometimes accidentally wimp out. We can miss the moment cause we weren't even in it! You could miss the HOLY MOMENT God gave you for the day!
Think about a time when one of your friends, spouse or kids said, "What you do think?" And you were scrambling to answer cause you're thinking: "What do I think about what?" ...How did you just miss the last two minutes of life? You didn't even realize they were talking?
Being present to each moment is one of the greatest fights of our lives these days. So many times we are regretfully looking back or fearfully facing the future--when the moment you are in is full of possibilities. Or, let's face it, we might just be looking down at our stupid phone! And you may have just missed "it". You may have missed 'her': the one you could have talked to, reached out to, called. You could have missed the most adorable thing you child said all day! You could have walked right past someone...and while we sometimes we might be seized with regret that sounds like this: "What if she was my next recruit (or hostess, etc)." But WHAT IF she was the ONE person God had needed you to ENRICH her life today...with a compliment, with a moment to make her feel valued, or to extend love through a kind smile even? What if SHE needed you!?
Wednesday is the perfect day of the week to declare your willingness to fight for your right (not to party, 80's girls) to live the best life. You're only mid-week so you can make this week a change for the better! You can declare today to be your best day yet! That may not mean that today is the 'best day' in terms of top 10 days for weather, or you may not even 'feel good' today, but living your best life begins with YOU--today! And you are enough just as you are this very moment. So be you. IN THIS MOMENT> and seize it! Don't let it slip by.
Have you noticed how fast days, weeks and months fly by? Does it seem like they move faster with each passing year of life? We do have to be intentional about our time (WEEKLY PLAN SHEET anyone? Everyone! Even Bueller) and we also seek to be courageous in our efforts cause you won't ever get this moment back. And cumulatively this moment will affect the next and so on!
I think that sometimes when in pursuit of our goals, dreams and daily 'to do' lists we can get caught up thinking about the end result more than the very moment we have to make progress--at this second. I do believe in the power of visualization. In fact I'm challenging myself to truly envision my dream to stand at the foot of Edinburgh Castle next september representing our Circle of Excellence unit in Scotland--BUT once my vision has ended, and the bagpipes aren't playing--if I'm being honest (and I am) I can suddenly go from this vivid lush green glimpse of my dream to fearfully 'fretting' about how much I have to do to GET to the castle. Instead the right thing is to take THAT MOMENT and do the 'next right thing'. I can miss the holy moment that is right in front of me.
What is a 'holy moment' you ask?
My "friend" (ask me why I call him my friend) author Matthew Kelly writes of the power of holy moments. He has a perfect definition that I will share: "A Holy Moment is a moment when you open yourself to God. You make yourself available to Him. You set aside what you feel like doing in that moment, and you set aside your self-interest, and for one moment you simply do what you prayerfully believe God is calling you to do in that moment. That is a Holy Moment." (From the book, The Greatest Lie in the History of Christianity).
So I believe holy moments are how we will forge into the Circle of Excellence! Collectively, as an army of women committed to holy moments, we will elevate our influence, confidence and because we will be in action--there will be results that move us up in the business sense as well! That's not overwhelming. You don't have to change everything about your life today. You don't have to do anything except seize a holy moment!
I believe the heroines of our business, the likes of our founder Mary Kay Ash, or the champions and saints who have exemplified Christian living for 1000s of years, didn't live 'holy lives' but rather as Matthew Kelly would contest, and I'd agree, they lived HOLY MOMENTS!
"Their lives were not a single action. Rather they lived life like you and I, one moment at a time. Did they collaborate with God to create Holy Moments? Yes. Did they turn their backs of God at other times and create unholy moments? Absolutely. In fact, it is essential to note that between all the Holy Moments these champions of Christianity were creating with God, they did some really sick, crazy, dark, twisted, demented, and messed-up stuff." (p37, The Greatest Life, Kelly).
So, warrior woman, you are looking for progress--not perfection! The danger lies in letting the devil weave in with doubt and discouragement to make us think that our 'unholy moment' or string of of 'holy moly what was I thinking' moments means we are hopeless. The greatest tool the devil uses is discouragement. He wants you to think there's no hope. Oh that's another entry for another day--but in short: THE DEVIL COMES TO LIE CHEAT & STEAL....do you get that? He's the voice that lies to you saying: "Who do you think you are?" "You'll never able to do ____" , "You'll never get this" He wants to cheat you out of the life God has called you to! He wants to STEAL your peace, and steal your next holy moment by filling your head with self-obsessing thoughts so you can't think about how you can be serving another!
Tomorrow for transformation Thursday we will pick up on TRANSFORMING OUR THOUGHTS so we can wage a winning strategy but for today...Warrior Women building lives with makeup as your mortar, take heed: Jesus said in John 10:10: "A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."
Your war is more in the battlefield of your mind (thank you Joyce Meyers) than in the world. You must first outwit the thoughts in your mind that will stop you from seizing the holy moments! One way you can do that is by using words of loving affirmation to yourself OR once you've visualized the 'dream' vision (the trip, the car, the house, etc) envision the person that is there, what did your day look like that was a 'flow' and that was peaceful? How did the day look as your courageously strung together a SERIES of holy moments to HOLY DAYS? See that vision that flow.
Today we do battle! You don't have to take up arms to kill anything except the negativity and bad habits that are limiting your life. If you wish to know more about taking up arms to battle in your brain I suggest considering the likes of Joe Dispenza. Today WARRIOR WOMEN: fight for at least ONE Holy Moment. Seize it and share if you will! What did you overcome to take the action step? Did you silence the negative voice? Did you take your 20 seconds of courage (ala We Bought a Zoo) and compliment the woman in line at the store? Did you pick up the phone and call the person on your heart? Did you write a thank you note to someone who blessed you recently? Maybe your holy moment is pausing to give God due time (like 10 holy minutes? That's just 1% of a 10 hour day) to be silent in his presence so that you can be more aware of HIS voice and not the devil's? Whatever you do today braveheart, know that the battle isn't really yours! It's already won! The real hope lies in the truth to the answer "Who do you think you are"? YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD (Psalm 139). You "are a piece of work" but you are GOD's WORK and he is the master builder! You are created to build a holy cathedral of excellence that will glorify him & draw others in to worship Him with you. When you create a series of holy moments (START WITH JUST ONE TODAY!) you will find yourself living that life that shines brightly for God's glory. You probably already are, braveheart! Because darkness (literally, in space) is void, it's empty--that's why space is dark; but when you are filled with light you will shine as the stars. The light that fills you will be peace, love, joy--abundance of the spirit! The energy that radiates will be the love of God manifest in the Holy Spirit! Because as John 10:10 concludes: I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Abundant living *can* include the vision of your dreams, Scotland included, but it is ABSOLUTELY living in peace, love, joy, gratitude, and loving others no matter whether the weather, location, success, health...because you can do all things through HIM who empowers you (read the WHOLE chapter of Philippians 4! Not just 4:13)
Stand Firm! Rejoice! Have no anxiety at all! In prayer, with thanksgiving, let God know what you need. Then the peace of God--that surpasses all understanding--will GUARD YOUR HEART and MIND in Christ Jesus!
Keep reading that Chapter! He tells you what to dwell on! And he tells you what you can endure! And it will get you through your day and your HOLY MOMENT this Wednesday! Pop back in tomorrow cause THAT's THE STUFF (Phil 4) that TRANSFORMATION is made of!
So today, be *BRAVE: live a life the reflects the excellence to which you are called!
